Works on Paper: 1960’s-70’s

During much of the 1960's Touster helped to raise a family while working full-time at his father’s business, the Cinderella Hat Company. His 1960's drawings focused primarily on the figure and to a lesser extent on animals, both subjects he used often in his paintings.

The initial ideas for his late 1960's sculptures were often first developed from his wax drawings, and by the other preliminary sketches he was working on; some of which he would further enhance with ink and watercolor. These drawings became more complex over time, and in the 1970's they became the basis for his increasingly complex paintings.
