Paintings: 1980’s-2000’s

The 1980's saw Touster beginning to tackle grand themes of God, love, greed, ignorance, war, death, and heaven and hell, among others. He had spent his life as an artist inventing a cast of characters and a color palette that he nimbly used to create scenes of historical and mystical significance. Storytelling became the primary element in his painting, and as it did his canvases grew larger and more complex, some measuring over ten feet long, and containing dozens of figures. He also began to delve into his own biography with his series Painted Memories, After Hogarth and After the Victorians.
