After the motel was sold Ronald moved into the house on Irwin’s Mt. Tremper property year round, living there for over 25 year, while Touster summered in the barn behind the house. All of the poems and drawing in this book were created on the Mt. Tremper property where they both lived.

Painted Memories (2004)In 1999 Touster began a series of small paintings influenced by an old album of family photographs that belonged to his mother. Each painting was a combination of selected sections of the album’s photographs as well as others. Each painting in the book faces a page of written memories and stories from his life.

Line and aquatint (tone) make up the second section. Watercolor is added to the etchings in section three (color). The forth section and final group of etchings were inspired by the engravings of William Hogarth.

Kazuko: My Sweet Childhood Till the Bomb Fell (2010)Kazuko: My Sweet Childhood Till the Bomb Fell is the story of Touster’s long-term partner, Kathy Hyam’s childhood growing up in Japan prior to WW ll. Irwin conducted interview’s with Kathy to get her story and then wrote the book in her voice. After it was published it was mentioned to Kathy that she sounded exactly like an 80 year old jewish man from New York. She got a kick out of that!

The Motel and Other Digressions (2012)In 1970 Touster purchased a four acre piece of property in Mt. Tremper, NY and lived and painted in the barn that was on the property every summer. In 1979 he purchased the Millstream Motel in Woodstock, NY. This book is an autobiographical look into Touster’s life during those times.

After the Victorians- Paintings and Drawings (2015)The paintings and drawings for “After the Victorians” were started in 1998 and completed 2005.. The work was inspired by the Victorian painters, especially William Hogarth and later, Thomas Rowlandson. As Touster writes in the introduction to the book: “The Victorians were the real storytellers. This for me is what this book is about, not their paintings. I do not respond to the paintings of the time, but to the ideas of story and how to tell them.”
